I want to continue to review all that we have accomplished. We have continued to eliminate negative thinking, label read, recognize the importance of breathing, add positive affirmations into our daily lives, eliminate high fructose corn syrup (fructose as well) & dyes from our diet, sit in silence within nature for 30 minutes a day, set goals in our lives, eliminate preservatives from the diet, practice forgiveness, offer an attitude to gratitude, drink a glass of water each morning before we put anything into our bodies, offer more love to others in our life, eat more raw foods, let go of preconceived ideas, be impeccable with our word, drink half our body weight in ounces of water, made a personal mission statement, rest for 20 minutes a day, eliminate sugar & sugar substitutes, not take things personally, look for the positive in others, take a 30 minute walk every day, find our own personal truth, practice being better listeners and this week we are going to reduce our daily meat consumption overall.
This is something that has been a debatable subject due to the enforcement of needing proper protein amount for healthy function and even a healthy pregnancy. This is also a subject that has provided false information to the public based on certain agendas. Overall, a great study called the China Study sums up the truth within healthy protein consumption. This study came about just by looking at society and how it functioned with a certain way of life, then as that life changed due to westernilization (aka increased meat & dairy consumption), they saw society express more disease patterned than before. It was realized that the shift in animal protein intake was the definitive factor in what makes us healthy versus dis-eased.
There are many documentaries on Netflix as well as doctors citing this study because it made such a huge impact with research. The study mostly showed that those that consumed at least 20% of animal protein each day are more likely to develop cardiovascular issues and/or cancer. These are the two leading causes of death in America and we are the society that eats more animal protein compared to anyone in a developed country. Does that seem like a coincidence?!
Now, it is the high protein intake that causes such dis-ease? Or is it animal based protein that does it? Studies have found that if someone were to consume 20% or more protein in their diet and have it plant based, the same dis-ease patterned would not occur. So that leaves the statistics showing that in order to have a healthy, dis-ease free diet… one must eat less than 20% animal protein at all times. Combine this with eating over 51% of EACH meal RAW, your body should thrive in comparison to eating the old way.
I have found that by decreasing my animal intake, my body digests easier and I feel less sluggish throughout each day. One trick I use to get the nutrients needed but to be more gentle on digestion is to use stocks from beef or chicken versus the meat. So I will use the stock for a broth or to cook some grains in. This has been a great tid bit for getting the best of both worlds while not overwhelming my body.
If you are not familiar with the details in the China Study, be sure to watch the amazing, countless dietary documentaries on Netflix as well as look it up online. It is great information and having research like this is crucial in making healthy choices. I prefer information that life just shows to be true versus planned research & control experiments. They are always flawed somehow whereas the experience of life speaks for itself!
Also eating less animal protein leaves way less of a carbon blue print compared to the high numbers of today. Even if you never want to eat vegetarian, that is okay. Cutting down how much meat you eat can drastically change the planet once meal at a time! Best of luck as you continue this transformative journey! I know that each week we are all closer to a more whole, happier version of ourselves. Give yourself a hug or pat on the back for all your weeks of hard work!
